1) Take On A New Challenge

Still working the "new blogger" scary angle here...

In my opinion, the majority of people hold back from starting a blog simply because they don't believe enough in themselves.  To put it more precisely, they don't think that they'll be good enough at it.

After all, blogging is kind of complicated, isn't?  And not all of us are tech nerds, living more on the inside of our laptops instead outside.

why you should start blogging online - take on a new challenge

If that's what is bothering you, do yourself a favor and laugh it out loud.

Then, seat on your butt and devote a few minutes of your time to simple research.

Once you do that, here is what you're going to find:

Success stories of bloggers, just ordinary people who were brave enough to face up a new challenge.

By the way, nowadays even your grandparents can launch a blog thanks to cool staff like 1-click WordPress install for instance.

Food For Thoughts:

The only person who is afraid of a challenge is the person who has no interest in learning, growing, and testing his/her limits.

And that's the kind of person you're not interested to be, right?

2) Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Just to keep you in the loop, when I started this blog, I didn't know the first thing about hosting services, domain names, plugins, etc.

Literally, there is no better word than "blank" to describe what my brain felt like when facing any of the blogging terms.

Well, that's just me - no tech background whatsoever.

Who cares though?  I don't and neither should you if you're in the same both as the beginner me.

Above all, once you decide to be a blogger, you'll learn everything you need to know.  Even if it's stuff that you've never had to deal with before.

Food For Thoughts:

Those who are afraid of bears should not go in the forest, but that's not you, right?

3) Gain A Whole Net Set Of Skills

Until we're on the subject of learning and growing...

Let me ask you, when do you think it is the right time to decide that you know enough?

In case you want my opinion, the correct answer here is never.

Simply because you could never know enough, no matter the topic you're interested in.

why you should start blogging online - gain new skills

But let's stay focused and see what you'll learn once you begin to blog:

First and foremost, a huge part of developing a website includes writing high-quality, valuable content.  And you'll master that skill with time, practice, and a top-notch blogging education.

Now, once your writing skills are impressive, you can use them to increase your income in a variety of ways.

For instance, you can get paid to do freelance writing.  Just so you know, there are some writing gigs that will compensate you more than well!

Food For Thoughts:

There is always room for improvement and new things to be learned.

So, don't be afraid to completely reinvent yourself - a very few things in life could be more satisfying!

4) Build Your Own Business

To be honest, this one should probably be titled "Be Your Own Boss".

However, that's the most common answer you'll hear regarding the question of why you should start blogging online, and I'm not a huge fan of all things common.

Well, you may call it what you want, the choice of words doesn't really matter:

Once you start an online business and you work your ass off to make it profitable, chances are that you'll become your own boss.

Meaning, you'll be in total control of your hours.  And your breaks.  Plus, the amount of time you spend with friends and family.  Let's not forget, you can erase the words "alarm clock" from your vocabulary.

Here, the list can go on and on and on...  You get the idea, don't you?

Food For Thoughts:

Working for yourself is the best thing that can happen to you and blogging will allow you to have that.

5) You Get To Work From Anywhere

Actually, this part could easily be placed within the previous reason of why you should start blogging online.

With that being said, I still feel like it does deserve special attention.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about staying at one place all your life.

But these of you who LOVE to travel will most likely disagree, right?

blogging will allow you to work from anywhere

Honestly, I can't imagine not being on a plane, visiting another country at least once a year.

And if you're the same, being a blogger for a living is just a perfect fit for your personality.

As long as you have a laptop with you and access to Wi-Fi, your workspace will always be exactly where you would like it to be.

Food For Thoughts:

When your occupation is "blogger", you'll never have to breathe the air inside of a cubicle again.

6) You'll Better Yourself On A Daily Basis

Let's face it, blogging is not strictly hearts and flowers, especially at the beginning.

Imagining that you'll get rich on day 2 of launching your business is one of the most common mistakes tons of newbie bloggers make.

Generally, reaching the level of full financial independence through blogging is a long, hard, and exhausting process.

Meanwhile, though, these are some of the changes you can expect to your personality:

  1. You'll see the word "discipline" through an entirely new angle
  2. Staying focused and motivated will become a routine
  3. Wasting time on activities with no importance will be a distant memory
  4. And the award for best multitasker goes to...  yeah, you!

Food For Thoughts:

Once you really commit to building a profitable business, don't be surprised if one day you wake up and see a different, better version of yourself.

7) Build New Relationships

Above all, if there is one thing you need to be completely aware of before starting your site, let it be this one:

Ultimately, you can't do this alone.

Yeah, you can be on your own when working on your content, which will keep all of the distractions away.

Sooner or later, though, you'll have to get yourself out there.  Meaning, you'll need to start making connections.

why you should start blogging online - be a part of a community

Firstly, with the audience - your business exists to help your readers.  So, when they comment, ask questions, or leave messages, you better be there for them.

Secondly, with fellow bloggers - your best shot at getting help when needed are the people who've already walked on your path.

Make no mistake, the blogging community is a really cool thing to be a part of!

Food For Thoughts:

She/he who stands alone may be the strongest person in the world, but not in the blogging world.

8) Find Your Voice

Sounds a bit weird, doesn't?

Still, expressing yourself through words is one of the best reasons why you should start blogging online.

Basically, not everyone is feeling comfortable with stating an opinion out loud.

Just think about it, how many times in your everyday life you wanted to say something but you didn't?

Human nature and all...

Now, once your blog is a fact, finding your true voice is inevitable.

By all means, your website is your baby.  And you'll be able to say to your baby anything you would like to say.  In any way you see fit to say it.

Believe it or not, that will do miracles for your confidence!

Food For Thoughts:

Never be afraid to speak your mind, you have one for a reason.

9) Help People

Generally, when you're having a blog, you must forget about what you want.

'Cause it's not about you, it's all about them.

In case you need me to clear that out:

First and foremost, the main goal of your online business should always be to help your readers.

For instance, if they have a question, answer it.  If they would like more content on a specific topic from you, deliver for them.

Because no matter what blogging strategy you're going for, your website always has to bring value to your audience.

Once you start doing that, your efforts will be appreciated:

blogging is about helping the audience

Let me tell you, when you keep getting comments like this one, it feels good.

Actually, it feels better than good!

Food For Thoughts:

Help them understand the game and they will help you stay in the game.

10) Make Money

Finally, we're coming to probably the most evident reason why you should start blogging online.

To make a full-time income without even leaving your home is the ultimate dream, isn't?

Well, you can live that kind of lifestyle if you're a blogger.

I'm not saying that it will be easy because it's not.  And I'll not tell you that will happen over-night because it won't.

That being said, as long as you work really hard and don't give up, your blog will earn you an online income.

How much exactly, that's entirely up to you!

Nowadays, there are so many ways to monetize your content.

For example, you can use the affiliate marketing business model to make commissions.  Also, once you're ready, you can sell your own products on your blog.

Food For Thoughts:

"Think like a millionaire, hustle like you're broke".

My Closing

  1. Great article! This helped me to remember not only the why but the feelings I got from actually posting a blog online. Our stories are a close match. I became interested in blogging just surfing the net and reading some pretty random stuff. Then I began looking into working online, even got promised a new Mercades

  2. Great article! This reminded me of how I got started blogging and why I started. We share similar stories except I didn’t take off to see a movie. I became interested in working online but after looking at a lot of rather shady employment (one offered a new Mercedes, IF I met their goals), I found Wealthy Affiliates and liked what I saw and what they offer. Training, websites, 24/7 support, and more.

I was a bit down before. I think we all get that way sometimes. Reading your article helped to remind me of the joy, not only blogging, but of accomplishing something I thought was out of reach. Thank You. You restored my peace within.
