It does suck, doesn't it?

You work your ass off day after day, doing tons of research.  In addition, you spent hours creating the best piece of content you possibly can.  Moreover, you share your post on every Social Media you can think of.

Still, the number of visits you're getting is slim to none.  And then your heart aches, you feel like you might be experiencing your first heart attack.

why most of the people give up on blogging

"All this work and for what?  They are all a big bunch of liars.  Blogging stinks and it doesn't work as advertised!"

As a result, more than 80% of the people give up.  Probably, before they even explore all their options and possibilities where driving traffic is being concerned.

So, if you're stubborn as hell and you're determined to transform your website into a thriving success, there are a number of things you can do to advance your blog.

I'm talking about the people who like to explain how they managed to get 100,000 visitors in their second and even first month of blogging.

Meaning, even if they did score that much traffic, they probably forgot to mention that this is not their first website, but the second or even the third one.

In other words, there is no way to reach an outstanding amount of traffic if you have no blogging experience whatsoever.

Now, since your blog is set up the right way, we can move on to the essential info on how to increase blog traffic.

Keywords Research

Generally, there was a time when all that you need to rank on Google is a tiny 400 words piece of content that aims at a winner keyword.  But that time is long gone and forgotten.

Nowadays, you have to break a swat or ten to see your work on the first page of the search engines.

In other words, the proper keywords research is something you need to take deadly serious.  And to do that, just make sure you don't skip any of the following steps:

1) Choose a Source Of Traffic To Target

Naturally, we all want to be found on every search engine and Social Media known to mankind.

However, until your brand doesn't gain authority and popularity, optimizing for all sources of traffic is as good as not optimizing for any of them.

As a result, focus on one, no more than two sources and optimize your content for them.

Personally, my choices are Google and Pinterest.

Considering it takes a lot of time to rank well on Google, I started with driving traffic from Pinterest first.  Currently, my Google SEO is catching up, so I get to enjoy increased traffic from both of them.

2) Use a Keyword Research Tool

Quite frankly, a good keywords research tool can make a huge difference in your post's ranking.

As a result, you better make sure that you have access to a killer one!

With all the competition nowadays, you need all the advantages you can grab.

how Jaaxy helps my posts to rank on Google

For instance, my choice of a keywords research tool is Jaaxy.  With a single click, that tool is showing me how much competition I have for a particular keyword, my SEO score, how many searches the word has per month, etc.

If you are interested to try it, the tool does offer a free trial.

3) Stalk Your Competitors Online

Honestly, this step is a lot of fun and can be very useful if really pay attention to it.

And here is how it goes:

Once you have an idea for a keyword you would like to target, type this word on Google and explore the results on the first page.

If you look closely and you read the first paragraph of those website's content, you'll be able to figure out which keyword they are going for.

Another way to do that is to check their permalinks, specifically the words coming right after their domain names.

Until we're on the topic of Google...

Search Engine Optimization

To be honest, the right keyword research is just a small part of all the SEO you need to apply when writing your content.

In addition, you'll need much more than that to get your content as SEO optimized as possible.

1) Linking Your Posts

Here, I guess most of you probably already know that:

As a rule of thumb, within each of your posts, there have to be links going back to some of your other posts.  It's called interlinking.

Just remember, don't overdo it.  Most importantly, interlink only with posts that are relevant to your current piece of content.

Meanwhile, Google just loves when you do an outbound linking as well.

To sum up, outbound interlink is when you link back to an outside source.  Meaning, you'll add a link to another website's content within your own content.

For example, if you want more info on SEO, Neil Patel is your guy.

2) Building High-Quality Backlinks

Oh, boy...This one is tough!

As your blog grows and you keep producing useful content, other websites will start to link back to yours.  In other words, your blog will have backlinks.

Click to Tweet

Now, I would suggest keeping a close eye on your Google Search Console.  Because that's where you'll see which websites are linking back to yours.

Personally, I try to return the favor as much as I can and you should too.

Speaking of Google Search Console...

3) Update Your Old Content Regularly

Generally, when you post a new article, it takes a while to gain traffic from Google.

But after a few months, you'll see it moving up if you optimized it properly.

Subsequently, find the time and go back to your old articles when you have a chance.  Make them longer, update the information, and add more relevant links where possible.

And Google Search Console will help you do that.

Inside this tool, you'll find plenty of words that are relevant to the keyword you're already ranking for.  So, grab those words and spread them in your article where it makes sense to do so.

Within a short time, your content will start to rank even better!

4) Repurpose Old Content As Well

Simply said, to repurpose old content means to take a post of yours and give it a make-over.

In other words, transform your work from one type or form to another.

For example, if you feel that you have enough material, you can create a whole ebook based on an old post.

Even more, considering people are visual, you can record a video version of your article and upload it on YouTube

Build a Network

Now, this one is super-duper important!

Above all, blogging is not a one person game.  And just like in life, you can't do anything and you can't go anywhere alone.

So, if you really want to know how to increase blog traffic, being an active part of the blogging community is one of the smartest ways to go.

1) Guest Blogging

To be honest, I doubt that this one will come as a surprise to you.

Guest blogging is an awesome way to dive in another site's visitors and lead them to your blog.

As you grow as a blogger and build strong relationships within your network, it's a great idea to ask fellow bloggers to do a post for them.

Moreover, if your content is awesome and will bring value to their business, you can expect those bloggers to ask you on their own!

2) Comment On Other People's Posts

Basically, that's one of the easiest ways to increase your audience.

Although it may be a bit time consuming, it's definitely worth trying.

However, don't go online crazy and leave a few words like "Great article, I love it!" under every single post that you can find.  This won't be beneficial for your business at all.

On the contrary, take your time and construct in-depth and well-thought comment.  Moreover, try to add something valuable that may be missing in the post you're commenting on.

3) Facebook Groups

Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of Facebook where increasing my traffic is being concerned.

But I can't deny that Facebook Groups can do a lot if you want to attract more visitors to your blog.  Especially, if you are brand new to the blogging scene and no one has heard of your website yet.

According to your niche, search and join Facebook groups that are focused on the same line of work like yours.

Email Marketing

Needless to say, building your email list should be a goal of yours from day one.

Let me ask you - if you have 5,000 devoted fans on your list and you send them a link to your newest article, how many of them will click to read it?

Even if just 200 of them visit your site, that's 200 instant visitors to your blog!

1) Offer Something Valuable For Free

Yeah, that's the easiest way to start growing your email list.

Trust me, the basic "Join Our Newsletter" option won't convert in leads as well as you may think.

basic newsletter will not convert website traffic in email subscribers

As a result, try and come up freebies that you can offer to your readers in exchange of their email address.

Considering every visitor has "What's In It For Me?" when reading a post...

You can't go wrong if you give your readers something that will help them resolve a problem.

2) Don't Rely On Just One Opt-In Form

Actually, it's so easy to explain why you need plenty of lead magnets.

Firstly, you'll have a wide variety of articles that are helping your readers to solve different problems.  As a result, you need different opt-ins that offer a specific solution your reader is looking for.

Secondly, you have a lot of real estate on your website.  Why should you place a form just in your sidebar when you can add it to your header, footer, within your posts, etc.?

Basically, people will land in different locations inside your blog.

Then, why not use most of them to capture as many email subscribers as possible?

Personally, I'm using Thrive Leads.  It's an awesome tool that allows me to have as many opt-ins as I like, to place them anywhere I like and to customize them in any way I see fit.

3) You'll Need an Email Service Provider

Once your business starts to grow and you develop email marketing, your job will become impossible without email service.

Because you'll need an automated service to send your email broadcasts and sequences, you can't do that manually!

On that, after I tried a few free services, I finally discovered Convertkit.

This email service provider is worth every penny and will make all your email campaigns so easy to handle.

And just like Jaaxy, Convertkit offers a free trial as well.

How To Increase Blog Traffic - Extra Tips

Here, you'll get to read my own ninja tricks that I'm using to drive more traffic to this site.

Above all, there is no better way to learn than through trial and error!

1) Posts

Generally, if you want to rank on the top of the search engines, always aim for at least 2,000 words.  That's what Google wants and that's what is smart to deliver!

On top of that, always optimize your title and meta description!

In addition, that super cool feature called "Click To Tweet" is coming from Thrive Architect.

2) Titles

Without a doubt, a clickable, prompting, and evoking curiosity title is a MUST!

Don't get discouraged if you suck at this in the beginning.  To be honest, it takes some time to get the hang of it.

Meanwhile, check this Headline Analyzer.

I always run my titles through it to get a better idea about how to improve them.

3) Images

Regarding your images, I can tell you that much:

Make no mistake, huge images will slow down your site tremendously.  As a rule of thumb, any image that you upload should never be bigger than 180 KB.

To achieve that, I'm compressing mine with Kraken.

It's a free tool and will do miracles for your loading time!

4) Pinterest

As the biggest source of traffic to my blog, I pay very close attention to this one.

Starting with my Social Media sharing plugin.

Here, my choice is Social Warfare Pro.  Most importantly, this plugin allows my readers to pin images to their boards directly from my site.

And it does cost only $29/year, so it's a pretty good investment!

Also, to help me get more followers on Pinterest, I'm having Milo Tree.

Because that's what makes the slide-in "Follow on Pinterest" to appear when people visit my posts.

Finally, I rely on Tailwind to upload my new pins when I'm not able to pin them manually.

Besides, Tailwind knows when the Pinterest users are the most active on the platform and will drop your pins at exactly that time!

5) Online Business Education

Say what you will, but you'll always need great education every time you jump in a new adventure.

Considering how much there is to learn about blogging and how to make a living with it, do you really think that you can do this completely on your own?

Personally, I know that this is just not possible.

As a result, I got my education at Wealthy Affiliate.

wealthy affiliate university

To sum up, this is an online training program that will teach you all there is to know about how to build a successful business and make money online.

And that includes everything on SEO, keywords research, affiliate marketing, driving traffic, etc.  On top of that, you can join Wealthy Affiliate for free and the platform will even give you 2 free websites to begin your blogging career with!
